About Tom
My name is Thomas Michael Cardenas and I am artist residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my wonderful wife. After studying at the University of New Mexico, I started my first creative endeavour by establishing TC Building and Development, Inc. in 1989. My work is currently being represented at Northern New Mexico Art Gallery & Catalogue.
Throughout my building career, my attention to detail in design as well as building technique are unique and have made a significant contribution to the quality of Custom Home Building in the Albuquerque area. My designs and quality of building have gained TC Building numerous awards.
Armed with a passion to design and architecture, I was inspired to pursue my love and passion for the arts. I have always had a passion for the arts and enjoy studying the accomplishments of great artists including, Monet, Camillie Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, and Van Gogh to name a few.
Being a native Santa Fean, I have long cherished the natural beauty that surrounds us. Focusing exclusively in oils, I have received formal training in Santa Fe and at the Fechin Institute in Taos, NM attending workshops and studying under the artists Ken Auster, Kim English and Jon Encinias.
I work in plein air, mostly New Mexico landscapes, mainly drawn to the old historical Churches, for their history and community preservation.
Each time that I paint, I am honest in my process consistently displaying strong design color and brush strokes, and with each experience I take with me a little more knowledge to apply to my journey.
